The Forum at Desert Harbor

Peoria, Arizona Client: The Forum Group, Indianapolis, IN.

The Forum at Desert Harbor is a lake front Continuing Care Retirement Community situated in an oasis of 10 acres of native landscaping designed to reference mission style architecture.

Residents have a choice of 150 apartments ranging from studio living, two bedroom units and several three bedroom villas. As care dictates, 40 personal care and 40 skilled care beds are available in the connected two story wing.

The facility has a unique mechanical system that creates ice in buried vaults in the landscaping at night during off peak electric rates. The stored ice is used during the day to assist in cooling. Landscaping materials are indigenous to the area to reduce the need for extensive irrigation. Columns, fountains and pavers are hand cut Pinon Cantera Sandstone imported from Mexico.

Design and Project Architect: Michael Ray Pluta, Architect. Architect of record: Tucker & Booker Inc.
